My First Prayer Book
After converting to Islam and Ahmadiyat, my first task was to learn how to say prayers the Muslim way. To learn the positions was not so difficult, but to learn the prayers in Arabic was real hard.
I was given the Islamic Prayer Book in Swedish, eg. “Den Islamiska bönen” by Mahmud Eriksson. It contained explanations, Arabic with a perfect transcription and an flawless translation to Swedish, and with that in hand I learned how to pray.
Mahmud Eriksson was himself a convert and understood perfectly what a convert needed. The book was typed on an old fashioned typing machine and then cyclostyled. He did all work by himself, carried all costs by himself and it was then distributed via the Ahmadiya Missions in all Scandinavia.
I have seen many prayer books after this, but I always found that this one, my first prayer book, also was the best. It contained all I needed to learn the Islamic prayer.
